Making a video game is not easy - otherwise, everyone would be doing it. The amount of work it requires is massive, as you've got to be able to come up with a creative idea, handle the tech, and manage the whole process smoothly. It should come as a massive surprise, then, that one of the most iconic gaming franchises of all time began with a team of only four. Four!

The first Mortal Kombat game took 90s arcades by storm and kickstarted one of the most infamously bloody franchises in gaming. According to the game's creators, Ed Boon and John Tobias, Midway tasked them with finishing the game within a year, something that would prove immensely challenging.

Despite the big task, the core group behind the project consisted of Boon, Tobias, and John Vogel as the artists and designers with Boon programming. On top of that was Dan Forden, who took on the composition of the soundtrack. Ultimately, the game was created by this small-knit team.

If you've ever wanted an example of how hard work and a loyal crew pay off, this is it.
