Mercenaries would be a surprise to find in a fighting tournament, but that doesn't mean they don't exist or they can't have fun with it. One such example is Kano, an Australian fighter who is all up for fighting for an evil cause as long as the money keeps rolling in. A part of the Black Dragon clan of mercs, he's a sadistic yet fun character, his cybernetic eye capable of burning straight through a human body.
The Australian Black Dragon mercenary is name dropped in the trailer, and appears to be working on the side of the Special Forces alongside Sonya and Cole. Probably not for too long, as he's well known as the former's bitter enemy, so it will be fascinating to see this partnership dwindle into something far more sinister.
What makes Kano truly dangerous is the glee he takes from his activities. He likes to claim that he's only in it for money, but it's clear that he has fun with his brutal actions. That much is obvious from the trailer, and it'll be terrifying to watch.
