Why it makes sense:
Trading Ariza + luggage to the Blazers allows the Rockets to be a better team defensively, despite the small forward's ability to control the perimeter.
Players like Paul and now Harden can well take care of that, but with such great ballhandlers and scorers the Rockets are rather in need of inside stoppers.
That's why Nurkic and Aminu are better fits for the Rockets, as Nurkic will be among the best inside scorers, defenders and rebounders on the roster. Aminu's rebounding is rated at B which will also make him helpful in giving the team's shooters second chances.
