NBA 2K21: 10 Things We Already Know
7. Release Date
In recent years, NBA 2K games have released in early to mid-September, with last year's NBA 2K20 releasing on 6 September. This year's instalment will follow in its footsteps with a 4 September release date being confirmed for current-gen platforms, with a demo set to be released on 24 August.
With regards to the standard and Mamba Forever versions of the game, both will be released at the same time, both physically and digitally.
NBA 2K20 was, at the time, the earliest ever release for an NBA video game, with NBA 2K21 now taking that record with a two-day advantage thanks to 2020 being a leap year.
While a release date for the next-gen consoles is yet to be confirmed, it's worth noting that a Gamestop post which has now been removed stated that the scheduled date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X users was 31 December. With the holiday season being the anticipated launch date for the next generation of gaming, this isn't a bad shout whatsoever. It's not often that new games will release on New Year's Eve, which adds that extra layer of rarity.
Besides, what better way to bring in the new year than by thrashing your family at virtual basketball?
