Despite scores of rumoursand general industry rumbling for years now, Nintendo have finally confirmed what we all alreadyknew; the NX is real, and will be arriving in 2017.

€œFor our dedicated video game platform business, Nintendo is currently developing a gaming platform codenamed €˜NX€™ with a brand-new concept. NX will be launched in March 2017 globally"

Details come from a financial report, which reveals various things, including the fact that the next Legend of Zelda is being shifted to release on the NX, as well as the Wii U.

A split-release means they're holding off until both consoles are in the public eye, which surely indicates it'll be a launch game on the former. After all, what better way to promote a new console, than tying in one of the greatest video game franchises of all time, right from the get-go?

Lastly, they add that "theWii U version of the game will be playable for the first time on the E3 show floor, and it will be the only playable game Nintendo present at the show in order to provide attendees a complete immersion.€

So, no NX at E3, at least not in playable form, anyway.

Nintendo areremaining tight-lipped on the whole 'brand new concept' thing, too - but we've had a go at predicting it anyway - as whatever it is, the NX needs to be distinctly unique in comparison to the PS4 and Xbox One, to stand a chance at making its mark.
