Pokemon has been on a steady decline since the original games. Red, Blue and Yellow were pretty much all you needed to be happy if you were a child in the 90s. There's an enormous potential market, and while Pokemon GO looks set to recapture many old fans as a guilty pleasure, the NX should make Pokemon a priority. Start from the basics. Go back to the beginning. Utilise the 151 original Pokemon (because Mew has a soul, you know) and give fans a 3D Pokemon edition. It can share the same style as an old Gameboy game, but filled with fresh ideas. The Pokemon world is virtually limitless, now Nintendo need to harness it.
