Nintendo Switch: 10 Crucial Pros & Cons You Must Consider
2. Pro: Nintendo Have The Possibility To Make The Ultimate Legacy Console
Sadly, Nintendo recently announced their patented Virtual Console functionality won't be coming to Switch at launch, leaving fans in the cold with a, "We'll announce more in the future!" comment to chew on instead.
That said, every Nintendo system for over a decade has always respected the legacy of the company and its developers. Many Wii units supported Gamecube discs, the Wii U did so for the Wii, and, well *clears throat* the Switch does nothing of the sort.
Look, the digital revolution was going to happen at some point, and although Nintendo haven't confirmed details on the Virtual Console, if it recognises and auto-downloads your past digital purchases across everything from the Wii U to the SNES, it would be the ultimate Nintendo handheld.
The fact that Nintendo are hanging back on this functionality at least hints at the notion they're planning something special. I mean, it's a no-brainer, right? Super Mario World, Wind Waker HD, Balloon Fight?! Thanks to being so unclear it's a pro as much as a con at time of writing, but feels like yet another part of the console that will get locked in over time.
