When did the eShop turn into an app store?

After such an innovative console concept like the Wii was followed up with the lackluster, traditional Wii U, Nintendo knew they had to bring out the big guns.

Or should we say, bring out the Joy-Cons.

With the fresh idea of meshing the worlds of handheld and console gaming together, the Nintendo Switch quickly became one of the hottest properties within the video gaming world upon its release. In fact, even prior to it being out, the hype built for Nintendo's latest creation got at least some sort of reaction out of seemingly everyone.

While there's plenty of praise to throw Nintendo's way, nothing good comes without its flaws. The Nintendo Switch is far from the perfect console. To be fair, most companies struggle perfecting portable and stationary gaming separately as it is, but that isn't necessarily a viable excuse for many of the Switch's most prominent problems.

This is Nintendo, after all. They may know how to make one hell of a video game, but they've been rather questionable over the years when it comes to the business-running aspect of their company.

And hey, speaking of that...

9. Forcing Voice Chat Through The Official App Is Terrible

One of the most consistently baffling decisions Nintendo has made over the years is their refusal to give us universal in-console voice chat when playing online. Unfortunately, despite actually have a form of voice chat on the Switch, it was a big step in the wrong direction.

Sure, Fortnite is a lucky exception, but as for the majority of the Switch's catalog, the Nintendo Switch app is required to talk with your friends while gaming. This is a major flaw in the system, as using the app is far too convoluted to possibly find enjoyable.

For it to work properly, your Nintendo Switch must be hooked up to a phone running the Nintendo Switch app, and that phone needs to have headphones for you to use. That's already more complication than any other console requires, but you're also likely going to want to keep your phone charged, so that adds another cord into the mix. And if you happen to get a phone call while gaming? It's all over...

Considering Discord themselves have literally offered to make an in-console app for voice chat, this one is far too easy for Nintendo to fix.
