Nintendo Switch Reviews: 12 Critical Reactions You Need To Know

6. The Hard Drive Is Too Small

"With 32GB of pre-installed flash NAND memory, out of which only 25.9GB is usable, you will need to ration your space carefully with digital purchases. For small indie games this shouldn't be an issue, but it's easy to see major releases chewing through this quickly." - Eurogamer
"There’s no way you’ll be able to go digital with your library unless you buy a hefty SD card (Nintendo says cards up to 2TB will be supported, but that functionality is not yet enabled). Given that Dragon Quest Heroes is the same size as the Switch’s entire internal storage, it’s surprising that Nintendo didn’t at least offer an option for a system with a more respectable storage capacity." - IGN

This was basically clear from the moment the specs were announced, but it's always nice to have confirmation: the Switch's 32GB internal hard drive is hilariously small and, honestly, pretty embarrassing.

Yes, it'll be easy enough for players to add more space themselves, but this just feels like a desperation move to keep the console's price low, rather than launching it with an adequate amount of space considering that the PS4 and Xbox One launched with 500GB hard drives each over three years ago.
