PlayStation Classic: 10 Best Games NOT Included
1. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
The parks, the settings, the customisation, the soudtrack, the ease of the controls... this game had everything. The popularity of extreme sports in the late 90s to mid 00s owes a lot to the success of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games.
Any one of the four THPS titles released on the original PlayStation would have been right at home on the Classic, but the second instalment if the franchise was the best of the lot. It had a huge amount of depth to it and introduced the manual trick to help string huge combos together.
You have to feel a little sorry for Cool Boarders 2, as most fans who buy the Classic will end up comparing it to Tony Hawk’s, where it will only come off unfavourably.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 is symbolic of everything the PlayStation was about. Skateboarding was edgy but kid friendly, the soundtrack was crammed with hip hop and rock without ever being controversial. Much like PlayStation’s 90s image, it embodied punk rebellion while still appealing to the masses.
Such a huge pity the recent installment 5 was a shadow of its former self.
