Pokémon GO: 10 Missing Gameplay Features We Want To See
6. Individual Battles (Not At Gyms)
This was something else hinted at in the original trailer.
The only battling that can currently take place in Pokemon Go is at the various Gyms around the map. Then, even if you are at a gym, you can only battle the current gym "leaders" (the players who have Pokemon stationed at that gym).
But what about battling at other times? Say you and your friend are walking through the mall and there isn't a Pokemon Go Gym anywhere close to you. The two of you get into a discussion of which of you has the stronger group of Pokemon.
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to battle it out right then and there and settle that debate?
With the current three-team system in Pokemon Go (Team Instinct, Team Valor, and Team Mystic), being able to battle any other Pokemon Go player close to you would allow inter-team battling as well - a function that is practically unavailable in Pokemon Go. At this time, the only way to battle a member of the same team is by "training" at the gym owned by your team, and you are allowed only one Pokemon for the entirety of the battle.
