Pokémon: Ranking Every Gen 2 Video Game

9. Pokémon Race Mini

Pokémon Race mini is proof that the Pokémon Mini can have quality titles on it. Yeah, the game is nothing amazing but you'll actually have a good time with this one, and it's not a mini-game compilation.

In Pokémon Race mini you play as a Pikachu who must race against other Pokémon in a variety of 2D environments. So what you essentially get is a 2D platformer with variety and an incentive to speedrun your way through it which is inherently enjoyable here. The fact that the opponents you're up against aren't carbon copies of you also adds to this enjoyability.

For example, if you're racing against a water-type Pokémon then they'll be slower on land than you but a much faster swimmer.

Pikachu's moveset also isn't as basic as you think it would be. You have a dash with limited uses which encourages using the move conservatively, and you get a wall jump which feels surprisingly good to pull off.
