For years now training your Pokémon has been about so much more than just increasing their level and adding to the arbitrary skills and statistics they have. Hidden values that influenced which stats increased more quickly and which strengths trainers could focus their attentions on were introduced, making the strategy of the game more in-depth than ever.

This even became an easier step in generation six with the introduction of Super Training. A variety of mini-games allowed players to more obviously increase their Pokémon's attributes in certain ways if they so chose. Potential values for the attacking, defensive and mobility stats were given potential value spikes depending on the training games that the trainer employed.

There's no definite word on whether this will return in Sun & Moon, but confirmation of a new type of training has arrived. Hyper Training is set to offer players a similar mechanic, only this time it's a way of customising your team's skills after they've already reached the level cap at 100.

This is an interesting change since previously such improvement wasn't possible at that stage of the game, and it seems to show an obvious attempt to increase the longevity of the game's post-story content. Keeping your team competitive at level 100 will be more challenging than ever!
