As the trainer's tool for registering and recognising the different types of Pokémon that are encountered throughout the region, the Pokédex has always been one of the trainer's best friends. It's a fantastic aide, but now it seems that the new version for the seventh generation could be more helpful than ever.

It's been announced that the Alola region's Professor has had a Rotom inhabit the player's Pokédex, adding a number of user-friendly features. So far all that's been confirmed is the use of an interactive map that you can add flags to or have guide you to your next crucial location. It's likely that this tool will make use of the 3DS' touchscreen during play.

For anyone who's unaware, Rotom is a rare Electric-type Pokémon that was introduced in generation four. Rotom is a strange thing, able to inhabit electrical items and take on their appearance and form. Once inside, the Pokémon maintains its awareness and abilities, meaning this Rotom Pokédex could be the most useful - and friendly - version of the encyclopaedia yet!
