Double Fine

Released in 1993, the game contains all of the mainstays of the movies dear to 80's and 90's geeks. The protagonist, Bernard, is nerdy in the most campy, simplified way, with spectacles on his nose and his shirt tucked in.

Two other main characters are: A beautiful but not particularly smart blonde Laverne and metalhead Hoagie, both icons of 90's movies as well.

There's also a wacky scientist named Weird Ed Edison who lives in a mansion - which is kind of understandable, as the game is a sequel to 1987 Maniac Mansion.

Another important element of the game is time travel - essential for the gameplay, but also for that literal time in pop culture.
