5. Don't Become Obsessed With Pixels

Obviously being able to push your console's 4K and 8K capabilities is great from a marketing standpoint. It's easily understandable for consumers and adds to the feeling that these consoles are truly a generational leap.

However, Sony would do well to recognise some of the mistakes that they made with some of their releases earlier in the generation. The Order 1886 is widely seen as one of the worst PS4 exclusives, and for good reason: It felt like you were walking through a museum where you weren't allowed to touch anything. Almost like a tech demo for the PS4's graphical capabilities.

The thing is that graphics are rarely enough to sell a game on their own anymore. Obviously if a game looks bad then that will work against it, but that's only going to get rarer as consoles become more and more powerful. What matters above all is gameplay.

Microsoft will no doubt spend the next several months bragging about how they have created the most powerful console of all time, and rightly so. The worst thing Sony can do is get sucked into that narrative and attempt to compete with Microsoft on that front, as they just can't. Instead they need to show off other things such as...
