PS5 February Reveal: 9 Major Rumours You Need To Know
5. Backwards Compatible Peripherals
For a good while, we have been aware that PSVR headsets from your current PlayStation 4 consoles will be compatible with the next-generation of Sony console. In fact, Mark Cerny even confirmed it.
However, what about all of the other peripherals? According to the reposted Reddit leak:
"DualShock 4 controllers, PSVR, and other PS4 accessories will be forwards compatible on the console as well, making it easy for existing PS4 to transition to the PS5 as well."
This would mark the first time a last-generation controller would be compatible on a next-generation system for Sony...ever.
Whilst that might make this a slightly fishy piece of speculation, on the other hand, Sony has blatantly wanted to put its PS4 compatibility upfront. Allowing the DualShock 4 to be useable, at least for last-gen games, isn't that huge a stretch.
