Game subscription services are scorching hot at the minute. Last year saw traditionally non-gaming companies like Apple (with Apple Arcade) and Google (with Stadia) launching their own services even.

At present, most people forget that Sony got there first with PlayStation Now. Initially, it was a streaming-only service for PS3 games at a hefty price point. It's made baby-steps to catch up with competitors and finally revamped itself into a more appealing form last year.

According to the Reddit leak, this trend will continue:

"PlayStation Now plays a vital role. You can either access games through a subscription fee or own the games out right. Sony (for a limited time) will bundle a 3-month PS Now subscription with the PS5 in select regions in an effort to promote the service to many new owners."

Based on Sony's strategy to reboot the service in 2019, it makes sense they would want to continue it into the next generation.
