It's hard to pin down the appeal of Just Cause outside of just "a lot of explosions and physics-based mayhem".

Arguably that's enough, being with Just Cause 3 we saw Avalanche try to delve into Rico Rodriguez as a character, losing the focus on giving us as many playfully anarchic game mechanics as possible.

It didn't help that JC3 was marred by technical issues either, meaning the more you indulged in wanton destruction, the less the frame rate held together.

Hopefully on fresher hardware (your PS4 Pros and Xbox One Xs) we'll finally see the age-old Mercenaries/Just Cause gameplay done to perfection on the biggest scale yet.
