9. Halo Wars 2
Real-time strategy will never feel as intuitive to play on console as on PC, but Halo Wars 2 comes closest to making the formula work without falt, thanks in no small part to the efforts of Creative Assembly.
The studio, most known for its long-running Total War franchise, took time out of its busy schedule to work in tandem with Halo vanguard 343 Industries to craft a sequel to the series' first RTS outing, the former handling gameplay, the latter all things story and sheen.
The result, while far from perfect, is a well-built, feature-packed and welcome addition to the Halo mythos, despite the campaigns muddled, anticlimactic ending. If nothing else, the entire package proves that, with the right experience and pedigree, that real-time strategy can work when piloted with a gamepad.
