4. Treasure Hunting
Although they can often be extremely tedious to complete, going on a treasure hunt is usually a decent way to gain more experience in Red Dead Online.
To first find the treasure maps, you need to complete a gang hideout, where you can then find a treasure map either by collecting it from the dead corpse of the leader, or by sparing him after they've told you where the map is located (you also get a map upon reaching level ten, then one at every five rank thereafter).
Once you've found the map required, you'll be sent on what can only be described as a wild goose chase around the map to find the treasure itself, unless you know exactly where it is you need to go. When you finally arrive on location though, the rewards can be pretty hefty.
Whether you receive gold, money, or some other expensive valuables, you'll bank balance will rise by a decent amount. Plus, you can also sell the valuable items you find, such as wedding rings, to the fence so that you can continue adding to your bank account.
