Red Dead Redemption 2 And The REAL Wild West
1. The Wild West Is Fondly Remembered, But Not Quite Over
The benefit of Red Dead Redemption 2 being a prequel is we know at least John Marsden and important elements of Dutch's gang survive the events of this adventure.
Should Mr Marsden or Dutch wait just four years they will be able to watch the first real Western movie in Cinemas. The Great Train Robbery came out as a silent film in 1903 and depicts a gang of outlaws… well robbing a train, it's all in the name really.
Inspired by Butch Cassidy's 1899 train robbery described earlier, it would look very familiar to Dutch and company. The film was a huge success, blasting past it’s $150 budget and making a large profit.
Incidentally, the same year that Red Dead Redemption 2 is set, 1911, Wyatt Earp started making important connections with Hollywood types. It would only be a few years before Westerns he personally consulted on would be released to hungry audiences.
