Red Dead Redemption 3: 10 Predictions For The Story

5. A New Setting

This is a given.

Yes, we got to revisit some of the original Red Dead Redemption's map, but only in the epilogue. The main story was set 100% in a new location. Gone were the deserts of New Austin, the towering spires of Mexico, and the tall trees of West Elizabeth. In their place, we got the buttes of the Heartlands, the mountains of Ambarino, and the gator-infested swamps of Lemoyne.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect Red Dead Redemption 3 to follow in that tradition, giving us something altogether new and unique. But where?

The game can't go any further east, and it almost certainly won't go any further south. The only choices are north (beyond the Grizzlies), and west (past New Austin and the Redemption Mountains) - maybe even both. We could see cities inspired by Santa Fe, San Francisco, or Deadwood. See our previous list - "Red Dead Redemption 3 - 10 Cities That Could Be On The Map" - for just a handful of the possibilities.

Rockstar could turn us loose to explore landscapes based on the Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, or the Black Hills.

If anything is guaranteed, it's that we'll be seeing new locales, and that's exciting.
