At the end of Resident Evil 7, the protagonist Etan is surprisingly saved by an older and much less bulky Chris Redfield, who in the recent trailer for Resident Evil Village surprisingly seems to have left behind his role as an agent for the anti-terror group the BSAA. It appears instead that now he is working for the villainous organization of the series, the Umbrella Corporation.

In the new trailer, we see Chris sporting an all-black outfit that almost mirrors his ex-boss, Albert Wesker, by literally being an all-black outfit including a stylish leather jacket that sadly is without the badass sunglasses. Chris conducts extremely villainous acts such as brutally killing Mia, Ethan's wife, right in front of him seemingly for no reason other than to piss off Ethan.

Honestly the fact that this killing off of a main character was the cliffhanger ending for the trailer only makes one wonder just what other twists will the game offer about the virus plaguing the Village as well as Chris's descent into evil.

Despite that shocking betrayal, Chris's actions could end up being seen as morally grey as players progress through the game and understand what has happened to the hero of the series.
