Resident Evil: Albert Wesker Explained
S.T.A.R.S vs Umbrella
Starting off the series with Resident Evil 0 and the original as the leader of the Raccoon City S.T.A.R.S, Wesker had been living a double life for some time. Thanks to the overwhelming influence of Umbrella, as at the time they were the largest employer in the United States, this former army officer was made captain of the Special Tactics and Rescue Service.
Enrico Marini was first in line for this position, but backdoor politics saw that Umbrella got a man in there they could trust and control. Or so they thought.
None of the team had any idea they were being led by Wesker for almost two years as the and that he was actually secretly working for Umbrella, who then actually, turned out to be in it for himself all along. Wesker defines hiding in plain sight.
Once the Spencer Mansion Incident began, Wesker’s mission was always to collect combat data from S.T.A.R.S and how they dealt with the situation. Nobody had ever witnessed what the vast majority of B.O.W's would be like when up against a highly skilled team of individuals. For the most part, many of the S.T.A.R.S members didn’t have a chance as Bravo Team was totally wiped out bar Rebecca Chambers.
X-Day as it was named, went on to change the world of Resident Evil forever and eventually lead to the Raccoon City Incident.
Wesker was also thought to be one of them as he was “killed” by the Tyrant T-002 Model in front of the surviving S.T.A.R.S members, but whilst they escaped by helicopter, Wesker made it out thanks to being regenerated by the Prototype Virus that he had been infected with from an early age.
