SNES Classic Mini: 20 Video Games It Must Have
9. Chrono Trigger
The RPG to top all RPGS: time travel, interesting characters, active battles: sheer excellence. And that's why this is one ahead of the other titan RPG of the 16-bit era: Final Fantasy VI.
Chrono Trigger was something different, and that made it something special.
Yes, there were stats to crunch and yes the story took a while to really get going, but the very fact that time travel was at the heart of its story meant that characters could connect in totally different ways, the player really feeling as though they were making a tangible difference to the typical "hero saves the world" narrative.
Sadly, this never made it to European shores until a port popped up on Nintendo DS in 2009, but it remains an excellent RPG and should definitely hit all territories of a possible SNES Mini release.
