Spider-Man 2 Is A HUGE Disappointment

"Why didn't it win at The Game Awards??" Here's why.

We need to talk about Spider-Man 2. About Insomniac's still-recommendable, unprecedented run across the last five years (three triple-A games on new-gen hardware!) and about the bizarre state this latest instalment released in.

Is Spider-Man 2 still a totally fun, enjoyable sequel to one of Sony's biggest games of all time? Of course. Does it somehow manage the Herculean task of continuing not just Peter Parker's arc from 2018's game, but Miles Morales' from the 2020 spin-off? Absolutely.

But are there cracks and increasingly obvious issues when you look closer? Undoubtedly.

Something is definitely up over at Insomniac, and with how Spider-Man 2 itself came together. Nobody could blame them for struggling to economically navigate two generations of consoles, three Spider-Man games, one Ratchet & Clank game, a 2018 remaster, an upcoming Wolverine game AND a pandemic in the middle, but it doesn't mean those issues aren't present.
