Spider-Man 2 PS4: 10 Villains We Need To See

5. Mysterio

Spider Man 2 Venom
Marvel Comics

Although he's only recently had his onscreen debut in Spider-Man: Far From Home, Mysterio has been a popular adversary to Spider-Man for decades. His powers of illusion and mystical trickery make him like no other villain Spidey has ever faced, the illusionist sending him into surreal dreams or indoctrinating him into believing intricately-schemed lies.

Naturally, his powers of deception make him the prime candidate to inject some mind-bending set pieces into Spider-Man PS4's sequel. Playing through some of these hallucinatory sequences would serve to better-flesh out the inner-recesses of Peter's mind, his weaknesses, fears and insecurities all being used to punish him by this formidable foe. Better yet, they'd allow Insomniac to really show off their creativity, twisting the game's logic on its head and cleverly deceiving the player's expectations.

Much like how Scarecrow's segments added some welcome spectacle to Arkham Asylum, Mysterio's powers pose a unique and visually extravagant threat. Making Peter relive the death of Uncle Ben, his first days as a hero or his fading memories of his parents would serve to both show us the skeletons in Peter's closet as well as the key moments we've never gotten to witness playing an older Spider-Man.

We know Mysterio and Spidey have already faced off in this universe, so this sequel seems the prime time to stage a rematch.
