Spider-Man 2 PS5: Every Leak & Rumour You Need To Know

4. Free Roam Miles Morales Might Be A Possibility

Insomniac

For all that new villains and settings ARE great though, probably the biggest question on everyone's minds following that first game was "will we get to play as Miles Morales' Spider-Man?" That answer is still forthcoming, but following the end of the first game and the DLC that followed, it seems like it's a matter of when - not if - players will get to suit up in Miles' now iconic black and red costume.

The rumours so far seem to corroborate that speculation. Miles will ostensibly boast a different fighting style to Peter, and will be able to utilise his own unique powers in combat. (One would assume these would be his venom blasts and his ability to turn invisible.)

Further still, the most recent leak points towards Insomniac modelling their system for players taking control of Miles and Peter on Arkham Knight's 'dual play' mechanic, where players could play as both Batman and a designated ally in a given area.

The most recent leaks also state how Insomniac are supposedly unsure of whether or not to make Miles' Spidey playable in free roam. Here's hoping they do decide to make him playable that way though, and for the game to adopt a similar system to that of Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, where players could take control of Jacob or Evie Frye whenever they wanted.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
