Even if you knew nothing about the game before it came out, you had to have guessed the spray-painted costume would rear its head somewhere - even if it were in an Easter Egg.
While there are visually and originally more interesting costumes to swing around in; the fact that the game deliberately gives the Into The Spider-Verse suit a scattered frame-rate not unlike the movie make it a fanciful little nod to the film.
Just like the Animated Series suit, players can use their imagination to include a meta narrative in which the Spider-Verse Miles is transported out of his world, and into a video-game one. Well, I imagined it at least.
