Spider-Man PS4: 10 Hidden Secrets You Totally Missed

8. A Reference To The Batsignal

While it feels like it would be a crime to not fill Spider-Man's New York with as many references to the wider Marvel Universe as possible; a Batman reference is something most fans were not expecting to find in the game. Yet somehow the devs at Insomniac were able to sneak one in, albeit a small one.

As you swing around New York punching bad guys and saving civilians, you'll hear countless quips from Spider-Man which are often humorous and occasionally meta. The best example of this is the line in which he wishes for a "Spidey-Signal" to light up the sky, which would allow him to know when people needed him.

Unfortunately, Peter sees the flaw in his plan quickly and remarks he didn't "wanna get sued." For those not in the know, this is clearly a reference to the iconic Bat-Signal which is so prevalent in all forms of Batman media.

It's a small fourth-wall-breaking joke that probably doesn't mean anything too special. However it does beg the question of whether Batman exists in this universe, either as a comic book character or even a real vigilante.

Who knows, maybe Peter is just a huge fan of The Dark Knight trilogy.
