Spider-Man PS4: 10 Major Worries Nobody Wants To Admit
4. Story Failing To Impact
Even with all of the worries here, if all we've seen of Marvel's Spider-Man is true, then it'll almost definitely be a good game. However, with such little story detail revealed to us, we really don't know if the tale will be any good or not.
Spider-Man is only as powerful as his stories after all. All of the most memorable moments with the wall-crawler come from his most impactful stories. Spider-Man is a great character, but he still needs an actual plot and motivation to keep him going.
Almost none of the other Spider-Man games have ever really managed to get this right, and it seems like a curse that Spider-Man games are just doomed to have.
Take a look at the Arkham games. Even though they have a great combat system, it's really the story that kept people around for the duration. Without that story, the Arkham games would have been a lot less memorable.
Although Insomniac has inspired confidence, this is a worry that we'll only get the resolution to when the game actually comes out. It's really important that Spider-Man gets a properly told story this time.
