Spider-Man PS4: 11 Fan Demands That Must Happen
7. A New York City That Isn't Just A Bland Backdrop
Swinging around The Big Apple is often the best part of Spider-Man games, but the actual sandboxes themselves have always been a bit barren. Never capturing the energy or the diversity of New York City itself, the concrete jungle the bulk of the superhero's stories have taken place in has always been lacking, rarely providing any thrills and ultimately coming across like a mess of big ugly grey boxes.
If Insomniac's game wants to go toe to toe with the very best open world titles then, it needs to create a sandbox brimming with personality.
The Arkham series is perhaps the best benchmark for superhero open worlds, featuring detailed areas both big and small that live and breathe the comic-book material they were based on.
Unfortunately, Spider-Man hasn't enjoyed the same level of creativity, and while the creators have already said that the world of the upcoming release will be large, a big map doesn't mean anything if there's no reason to explore it.
