Spyro Reignited: 8 Bosses We Can't Wait To Fight

Ripto, Toasty, Spike... who's the guh-nastiest of them all?

Spyro Reignited is charging ever closer towards release, and fans are perched right on the edge of their seats. The likes of Red Dead Redemption 2 and Call Of Duty: Black Ops 4 will probably draw a bigger crowd, but for the dedicated fans of this iconic purple dragon, Spyro's the only thing on their mind.

Having previously checked out the levels players can't wait to fly, charge and flame their way through, this list is all about the boss battles. Each of the three games included on Reignited took a different approach to boss battles, making each very indicative of the games they belong to. While the first set can seem a little bare bones, the Reignited Trilogy is about reliving the joys of old school platforming. The second and third installment both added their own twists, giving Spyro and his foes a larger range of powers to duel with.

Reliving the joys and frustration is one thing, but fans can't wait to see the new paint job Toys For Bob will apply to their favourites too. Combining style, gameplay, nostalgia and fondness within the fanbase, this list sees Spyro's most recognisable foes all vying for the top spot.

8. Crush

Crush was the first boss of Spyro 2, and good indicator of what's to come in this sequel. His boss battle begins with a flashback that gives more detail on the story of Glimmer too, so fans are understandably excited not just to fight Crush, but to see this backstory in beautifully rendered HD as well.

As boss battles go, this one uses old tropes to great effect. As has been done in like likes of Batman Arkham and Tomb Raider, the key to defeating Crush is to enrage him rather than go toe to toe. Landing hits will make him stomp and clobber the ground with his club, sending an avalanche of rocks onto him to eat away at his health.

The basic idea of Crush getting various powerups depending on where he's standing is used by other Gateway To Glimmer bosses as well, with battles more varied this time around. Whether dodging voltage beams or fireballs, the player must stay far enough away to avoid them, but close enough to chase Crush down as he pounds to the next power pad.
