Star Wars: 10 Games We Want To See From EA

4. A Decent First Person Shooter

Star Wars Republic Commando I personally prefer Third Person games to First Person but I do play occasionally FPS's and understand their appeal. Playing from the POV of your character helps to better immerse you in the game. Plus, adding Star Wars to something will almost definitely improve it (apart from TV Christmas specials). Dark Forces and its sequel were the first real Star Wars FPS's back in the 1990s and were smash hits, starting the Jedi Knight game franchise and successfully integrating Star Wars into the FPS market. And years later we got Republic Commando, an FPS about elite Clone Troopers set during and after Attack Of The Clones. Battlefront and its sequel were primarily Third Person games but had a First Person option. And that was pretty much the last we saw of Star Wars FPS's. It's a long neglected genre that should really be revisited, regardless of what storylines EA can come up with. Especially since Star Wars features massive armies as well as gunslinging rogues working on their own, which allows a lot of variation in terms of setting and characters. An FPS based on the bounty hunters from The Empire Strikes Back or a sequel to Republic Commando would be brilliant. And the addition of online play to it would net Disney millions of dollars in sales and downloadable content
