Star Wars Battlefront 2: 9 Reasons It's A Massive Disappointment

2. Campaign Doesn't Remotely Make Use Of Some Furtive Plot Territory

"It's set between Episode VI and VII!" they cried, showing us highlight reels of Endor right next to Starkiller Base.

"And we've got this new character, Iden Versio!", the perfect addition to a 30 year gap in the chronology that many additional comics and novels have already began to fill up.

The assumption was that we'd get a character whose life spanned that substantial period, exploring what it's like to lose a leader and an icon in Emperor Palpatine, before exploring the true nature of the Empire vs. the Rebellion - perhaps delving into the nature of the Force, Jediism and oh, I dunno, Kylo Ren's birth, along the way.

Sadly, Battlefront takes the easiest possible way through this "time period", having 99% of its levels set directly after Return of the Jedi, before an almost hilarious, "Many Decades Later" pops up and we resume action just before The Force Awakens.

We completely skip over the formation of the First Order and the dissolution of the Rebel Alliance, Luke deciding to become a teacher or Han cutting himself off from fatherhood, instead going from the Battle of Jakku, right through to Kylo in full on Force Awakens garb, mind-reading people for information in relation to Lord San Tekka.

Needless to say, Disney are most likely saving all these years to fill in with movies for the rest of time, but all the same - the campaign was marketed as being in this time period, yet it only creates bookends with mostly forgettable information.

Even worse...
