Star Wars Battlefront 3: 10 Fan Demands DICE Can't Ignore

3. Improved Lightsaber Combat

As epic as it should be to pit Obi-Wan Kenobi against Kylo Ren, lightsaber versus lightsaber amidst the destruction of the grand battle field, it's just not much fun.

If games like Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi Outcast have taught us anything, it's that it is in fact possible to recreate the complexity and excitement of lightsaber duels in video games.

Not all games manage to pull this off, however, and the Star Wars Battlefront games are sadly no exception, falling into the age-old trap of treating the elegant weapon of the Jedi and Sith as little more than a baseball bat.

DICE needs to take cues from the aforementioned titles and completely overhaul its approach to lightsaber combat.

Whilst the blocking and deflecting of blaster bolts work pretty well, and the famous energy blades certainly look and sound the part, combat is relegated to literally just swinging the blade at random with the exact same motions whether faced with a battle droid, a clone trooper, or a fellow Force-user.

When staring in to the eyes (or helmet) of a lightsaber wielding opponent, the game should change gears and treat the encounter with a more nuanced, deeper, and more exciting interpretation of epic lightsaber combat.
