Star Wars Battlefront: Skirmish Mode Confirmed, DLC Reveal Teased

Star Wars: Celebration isn't just about the movies...

Star Wars Battlefront

Good news for all Star Wars Battlefront players eagerly awaiting some new content: the long awaited single player offline mode is expected to be shown at Star Wars Celebration this weekend in London.

There's a big reveal apparently coming at the event, as per lead designer Dennis Brannvall, and while there's no confirmation of what it is, you could probably gamble pretty safely on it being dedicated to single player mode.

The developer revealed all on Twitter...

He also confirmed that the single player content will release BEFORE the Death Star DLC, which would have been the safest bet for the content shown at Celebration. But if single player comes first, then that surely jumps up the list in pre-release publicity terms? Now that it's been confirmed, you'd have to think that both will be on show.

DICE then followed up with their own confirmation that the single player offline mode, called Skirmish will be released on July 20th, allowing players to "play offline against bots in a solo mission or with a friend using co-op split screen."

"(Console only) Skirmish can be played on a difficulty level of your choosing and across two modes, Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron. With multiple locations that span the galaxy, from the frozen planet of Hoth to the lava encrusted planet of Sullust, we hope Skirmish brings players a new way to enjoy Star Wars Battlefront."

Great news.

And DICE further confirmed that there will be a closer look at the Death Star DLC revealed at Star Wars Celebration. Could there also be a look at the single player offline mode too? It would make a lot of sense.
