Summer Games Fest 2022: 20 Huge Video Game Announcements You Need To Know
5. The Last Of Us Remake Is Releasing On September 2
It had been rumoured for many, many months, but Naughty Dog finally confirmed it for real during Summer Games Fest Live, that The Last of Us is getting a glossy ground-up remake for PS5, fittingly titled The Last of Us Part I.
The reveal trailer showed off the remake's major graphical enhancements, particularly more advanced lighting effects and more lifelike facial animations that feel consistent with the style of 2020's sequel.
While some complained that the remake simply doesn't seem to offer up a substantial visual leap from its predecessor, and that remaking a game less than a decade old is of questionable utility, it's nevertheless reasonable to expect a highly polished new version of the beloved game that addresses some of the original's more dated gameplay mechanics.
And better yet, players don't have to wait long at all to play it, as The Last of Us Part I launches on September 2, with a PC release planned to follow.
