Super Mario: 10 Things You Probably Didn't Know

7. Kamek Was Almost A Kart-er!

Kamek Kart

Back in the mid-nineties Mario Kart was still in its infancy, and Nintendo gamers were eagerly awaiting the second game in the series: Mario Kart 64. What they won't know until much later is the last-minute cut that was made to the game - Kamek. The Koopa wizard who first appeared in 1995's Yoshi's Island was going to be showing off his Karting skills in the much-anticipated racer - until Nintendo made the decision to kick him out of the game that is, in exchange for Donkey Kong. To be fair, it was a logical decision. Donkey Kong was and still is a more well-known character, but one thing I don't understand is why Kamek hasn't been featured in a Mario Kart game since. Mario Kart Wii had Baby Daisy in it - a character I'm sure no one was too excited to play as - I'm sure Nintendo could have squeezed Kamek in that roster somewhere!
