Super Smash Bros. - 10 Characters Fans Demand Be Included
5. Simon Belmont
The original protagonist of the Castlevania games, Simon Belmonts introduction to Super Smash Bros. would allow Nintendo to highlight some of the NES early classics. The Castlevania series now runs into nearly thirty titles, but it all started with the 1988 release starring a whip-cracking vampire slayer hell-bent on defeating Dracula. Although, Belmont has a wide range of weapons available to him, he is most often remembered for his whip. He would also mark a new type of character for the series, because although Zero Suit Samus also uses a whip, Belmont would be the only character to use it as his primary attack. The axe, knife, holy water and cross from the original NES release could also be incorporated into his repertoire of attacks, for example. By adding Simon Belmont to Super Smash Bros. Nintendo wouldnt only be taking gamers for a trip down memory lane either. Konami would also likely benefit from the added exposure, particularly considering that its rebooted Castlevania games from the Lords of Shadow series also feature the Belmont family.
