Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC: 10 Characters We Want To See
Who else will join Piranha Plant?
Regardless of what you may or may not think of its position within the competitive fighting community, Super Smash Brothers is one of Nintendo’s hottest properties, and a celebration of its all-star cast of characters (plus a few ones borrowed from Capcom, Namco, and Sega).
Its a rather rare and unique title, providing older, more experienced gamers with modern renditions of characters they grew up with (like Little Mac from Punch Out or Mr. Game and Watch), giving them a shot of nostalgia in a fresh setting, all the while welcoming younger fans using well-known Pokémon and the immortal Mario crew.
Speaking of which, the Piranha Plant has been announced as the first character we’ll see added to the roster, and director Masahiro Sakurai has informed the world the list of fighters that will be added has already been decided.
However, that won’t stop me from speculating which characters I’ll get to smash off the screen in the coming months.
I’ve tried to make this more of a realistic prediction rather than a straight up dream wishlist of combatants. As much as I’d love to destroy Dark Samus with the Cole Train from Gears of War, its just not going to happen, but many of these could.
10. Nathan "Rad" Spencer (Bionic Commando)
To those not well acquainted with the Bionic Commando series (and for the record, you should be, those games are great), Nathan “Rad” Spencer is the main protagonist of the series. A soldier who had his left arm blown off by a grenade, he sports a bionic prosthetic that allows him to grab, claw, and pound his enemies, as well as using it as a method of traversal.
Admittedly, Spencer has already made his fighting debut in the similar spin-off series Marvel vs Capcom, but that doesn’t mean he can’t come over and smash with his brothers.
His robotic appendage would lend itself to a large grab area, a strong level of recovery (being able to go-go gadget extend-o-arm his way back to the stage), and a pseudo projectile by launching his iron fist to give him some solid range. You’d probably need to balance him out by giving him low smash knockout potential, only being able to land the killing blow on enemies of around 120% or more.
His Final Smash could be an insane uber-charged piston punch that acts as an instant KO, like a big metallic falcon punch.
