Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC: 10 Characters We Want To See

Also known as Claire Farron, Lightning is a playable character in the games Final Fantasy XIII and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, as well as being briefly playable in FF XIII-2.

Lightning would be right at home among the collection of fighters in Smash Bros, mixing the fighting styles of similar sword based characters like Marth and Lucina with the speed of fellow badasses Bayonetta and Zero Suit Samus.

While her movement speed would be fairly high and her attacks would be heavy hitting, they’d need to have longer start up animations to balance out the power that Lightning would be able to wield. She’s also got a deadly gunblade she can use. You’d hope that would come out to play when she has a Final Smash ready.

With Cloud (currently Final Fantasy’s only featured character) being part of the fighters, its completely plausible that Nintendo would seek to give him a partner. Hell we’ve got a ton of Fire Emblem characters, let’s rep the FF series some more.

Cloud is also used by some of the world’s top Smash Wii U players like Mexican champion MKLeo, so there’s no reason Lightning can’t be another top tier character.
