Tekken: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best
7. Tekken 1
Onto the upward curve for this list, and the game responsible for the entire franchise.
Now, the first Tekken isn't the best game to revisit depending on what you're prepared for - characters stay locked to the ground for way too long when knocked down, animations and character models are primitive at best and jumps very rarely go where you want - but it's imperative to acknowledge just how much this made an impact.
An arcade favourite, translating onto PS1 widened its reach considerably, dwarfing the likes of Virtua Fighter and Dead or Alive to become the premiere 3D fighter on the market. It might only be worth playing today for archival purposes, but as a landmark achievement in game design, Tekken as an entity owes its life to this 1994 original.
