Telltale's Guardians Of The Galaxy Episode 1 Review: 4 Ups & 6 Downs

1. It Does Nothing To Change The Telltale Formula

If you were expecting Guardians to change up the well-entrenched Telltale formula...why? This is basically the exact same Telltale game you've been playing for years with various different skins: you talk a lot, you occasionally investigate, you fight, and you make a "choice" or two.

That said, it's not unfair for Telltale fans to hope that the developer might try something a little different, and to that end this is pure complacent business as usual. They're well aware at this point that they can just keep pumping these games out with relatively minimal effort for a quick buck, so until they don't turn a tidy profit, they don't really need to fix what, according to their accountants, isn't broken.

Still, there is some entertainment value to be had here, and Telltale and Marvel obsessives in particular will probably enjoy it regardless. Here's what the game got right...
