The most stressful and intense scene of the first episode by far is the meeting with Ramsay Snow at the end, played deliciously by Iwan Rheon. The whole episode has built up his presence so that when he finally arrives you are on the edge of your seat. Every response to him feels like it could set him off. The scene is so tense, and the suspense grows with every second he remains as you attempt to guide the conversation as carefully as possible. You just want him to leave to the point where you will do or say anything for that to happen. And then it all goes to hell in a sudden explosion of violence that will hit you hard. The fact that Telltale could elicit a visceral reaction from experienced Game of Thrones fans is to be commended. You tell yourself that you have the pattern down; that no one is safe and everyone who is good is bound to get hurt. And yet you still let your guard down and allow yourself to care about certain characters. You should know better by now. And that is what makes Game of Thrones such a visceral experience.
