20. 2005 - Resident Evil 4
At this point, Resident Evil 4 has been ported to so many systems that someone should check to see if it hasn’t gained sentience and is intent on spreading itself into the homes of as many people as possible as some kind of unexpected hostile takeover.
And whilst the PS2 version may be what brought the game its first big wave of sales, RE4 was originally part of the aforementioned Capcom Five and exclusively made the GameCube it’s home for ten months.
Resident Evil 4 is one of those games that has been written about so much that there might be nothing new left to say. And, for good reason. Heralded not just as one of the best games ever made, but as a title that revolutionised the third-person action game, RE4 still holds up twenty years and a remake later.
Resident Evil 4 keeps players in its grasp with utterly addictive combat punctuated with fresh ideas and set pieces.
