The Elder Scrolls VI: Every Rumour & Confirmed Detail So Far

1. It May Mix Generated And Tailored Areas

As mentioned way back in the intro to this article, one of the first Elder Scrolls games broke records for how big a game world could be with over 80,000 square miles to explore. To put it in perspective, the last three Elder Scrolls games have shown landmasses between 9 and 16 square miles.

Which brings us to the most exciting rumour about The Elder Scrolls VI, which says the world will be a mixture of hand-tailored areas within an algorithmically generated world that covers every part of Tamriel. This would mean that tailored areas would see the same level of detail that went into Skyrim, while the world between would likely be generated by much more complex algorithms than Daggerfall.

So far, there is no evidence that even suggests this is happening beyond the assertion by the dev team that the technology has only recently come into being for them to create the game they want to create. That, and the fact that other games currently in development will be doing this in the next generation of gaming.

If true, this means we'd have a game easily capable of lasting months while still retaining the beautiful places that stay with us for years.
