The Game Awards 2018: 15 Things We Learned
4. Mortal Kombat 11 Exists, Releases April 23
After skipping out its widely-expected E3 reveal earlier this year, Mortal Kombat 11 was finally announced by franchise creator Ed Boon at The Game Awards.
The premiere trailer featured a glossy cinematic sequence showing Raiden battling Scorpion, complete with all the gory blood-letting fans both demand and expect from the series.
Though there wasn't any actual gameplay shown off, the trailer added that a community reveal event is coming on January 17, and best of all, fans won't have to wait too long to play it in all its glory, as MK11 drops on April 23.
Considering how out-of-control the hype cycle can get with AAA titles, it's enormously refreshing that this is getting announced barely four months removed from its eventual release. Nice.
