This year's show opened with the announcement of an Avengers game...just not the AAA multi-platform effort everyone was hoping for.

A trailer was released for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order, which will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch sometime next year.

Though the game's mere existence was a genuine surprise, the Switch exclusivity rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way given the sheer number of players who would instead love to play it on PS4, Xbox One or PC.

Compounding this frustration is the fact that the game looks pretty ugly on the Switch, ensuring that even those UA fans who own the handheld-console hybrid are getting a "gimped" experience from what they'd expect.

Given that the game would reach so many more players if it was released multi-platform, this seems like a gross move regardless of which console(s) you own.
